The intention of SORMA West 2021 is to showcase new innovations in radiation detection for homeland and national security applications, to stimulate discussion of these innovations and relevant applications, and to promote interaction between members of the radiation detection community.
As such, the format of the event will be based around
• live invited presentations followed by Q&A and discussion,
• live Q&A/technical discussion sessions related to the video contributed orals, and
• live poster sessions.
Invited Presentations
Invited presentations will be given live, and will be followed by live Q&A and discussion.
Technical Discussion Session (Contributed Oral Presentations)
Contributed oral presentations will consist of pre-recorded videos and live Q&A/discussion.
The pre-recorded videos of the presentations will be made available ahead of the Symposium, beginning May 13. We encourage to watch them in advance of the Symposium, at your convenience. After watching them, you can submit any questions and discussion points in advance. Join us live for the technical discussion session for each topic, including live Q&A and interactive discussion with the presenters, session chairs, and other SORMA West attendees. All of this will occur through the IEEE virtual-conference platform. You will receive login credentials upon registration.
The technical discussion sessions will take the form of a brief overview of each presentation in the session, followed by live Q&A based on pre-submitted questions, further questions from the audience, and open discussion of relevant concepts, technologies, and application areas. These sessions are intended to be dynamic and interactive, so please feel encouraged to ask questions and engage with the speakers and the rest of the community.
Poster Sessions
Posters will be presented live during two virtual poster sessions. Poster presenters are also encouraged to prepare and upload short overview videos. These will be available for viewing through the virtual conference platform from May 13th onwards.
