Through the generosity of the NPSS Cares program of the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society, we have some ability to help defray the cost of caring for family members while attending SORMA West 2025. Each grant provides up to $1,000 USD to cover the cost of family care responsibilities (children, seniors, disabled). This is not a conference travel grant for the attendee.
Click here for an application that you can download and complete. The deadline for e-mailing it to us at sormawest.lbl.gov is Friday, 27 June 2025. Successful applicants will be notified around Monday, 7 July 2025.
Eligibility
- To cover family care expenses for an attendee who has already registered for the conference
- To cover additional expenses (above normal care-related expenses) while registered attendee attends the conference
- Membership requirements: IEEE / NPSS membership preferred, but not mandatory
Reimbursement
Reimbursement is provided postconference after receipts and an expense report have been submitted, along with a brief description of how the recipient benefitted from this grant. The deadline for the expense report and brief description is July 30, 2025 — one week after the end of the conference. Please contact the Conference Treasurer before or while at the conference to check about the most efficient mechanism for reimbursement.
